Planting Design 2 - Comberton

Design Rationale

Comberton

The clients have a very established garden but wanted to make some changes to the borders surrounding their patio. They wanted to update the planting and refresh their surroundings with a new scheme but one that is in keeping with the rest of their floriferous garden. They had a few requirements, they didn’t like grasses and they wanted impact and colour.

I have chosen plants that have interesting leaf colour well into the autumn months, as well as some lower maintenance perennials, also chosen for their appeal to bees and butterflies in the summer. There are some staple evergreen plants for structure too. The planting palette below shows the plant choice, of course you don’t have all of the colour all of the time but there will always be something happening. The burgundy and cream are representative of the clients jockey colours for their race horse.

The beds create a new visual language around the patio area.
